Piggy Biscuit Making

A quick and easy, raining day activity. My daughter loves pink and Peppa Pig so this seemed like a great activity.

Prep: When we do baking and craft activities I do try to get the fiddly bits prepared in advance I found she can sometimes get a bit impatient with the boring bits if I have to cut anything up in advance.

For this activity you will need:

  • Digestive or rich tea biscuits
  • Pink food colouring
  • ready roll icing
  • sweets to decorate the eyes and mouth
  • Icing pen or gel
  • Icing sugar for rolling
  • baking paper for rolling
  • circle cutter
  • rolling pin

For the Prep I laid out the biscuits on a plate and put a select amount of sweeties in a pot, My daughter would quite easily eat the whole pot of sweeties, so I counted out exactly the amount we would need.

Activity:

First we made the Icing pink, simply add a few drops of the food colouring to the ready rolled icing and then roll the icing to mix the pink all over.

Roll the icing out on the baking sheet, unless you want everything to turn pink. Use the icing sugar to prevent the icing sticking.

once you’ve rolled it out flat, next you can use a cookie cutter or simply something round, slightly smaller than the biscuit. I used a glass. Cut out the circle shapes.

Once you’ve cut all your circles out next you can cut out the ears, I simply used a plastic knife and cut random triangular shapes.

Now you are ready to assemble your pigs.

I tend to let my daughter just go for it and I guess we didn’t really make pigs, more monsters but she had fun and enjoyed eating them too.IMG_1032
